America's Next Top Zombie Model

This is an actual VH1 show. No kidding. (Well, technically, it's a pilot that was produced for VH1. The series was not picked up though, so we'll never know the identity of the ultimate victor.)

Quote

"Even as we deny that our flesh must decay, however, we surround ourselves with fictional images of the very fate we strive to hear nothing about. They are everywhere: in books, films, and TV, in advertising, in toys and games for all ages, in children's breakfast food. No American child (even one lucky enough to escape Count Chocula) can grow up without learning what a vampire is..."

Spook House Dave

Spook House Dave is a new online puppet series "about a vampire, a witch, a werewolf, a mummy, and a rather large Frankenstein monster–all bumbling together to help an 11-year-old make his way in the big scary world." It promises "fearsome fun for the whole family."

Be sure to check out their very romantic Valentine's Day episode below...

New Terror Syndicate mascot

Interesting. It looks like Terror Syndicate has tried to replace their original static character/mascot prop (below) with something similar but more contemporary (left). I think I prefer the original.

Not Halloween related

Find more videos like this on Jonathan Escapes
This has nothing to do with Halloween but I thought it looked cool. Coming January 26th to the Discovery Channel, "One Way Out". In this show, "escapologist Jonathan Goodwin attempts to break out of bizarre and dangerous homemade contraptions. Tied to his kitchen table with a live scorpion trapped inside his mouth or locked inside a box on top of a shaking washing machine with his body covered in 200,000 agitated bees, Jonathan is always on the lookout for new and extreme ways to test the art and physics of escape and find that ONE WAY OUT."

Shooting the bad guys

shooting range target featuring Darth Vader, the Terminator, a zombie, Freddy Kreuger, a Space Invader, Megatron, Godzilla, Agent Smith, and GoombaWhen you're at the gun range, why bother shooting at anonymous silhouettes when you can fire away at some of cinema's biggest baddies? Designer Olly Moss has created these targets featuring Darth Vader, the Terminator, a zombie, Freddy Kreuger, a Space Invader, Megatron, Godzilla, Agent Smith, and Goomba. And there's a good chance that the design will be available on t-shirts sometime soon.

Do it yourself ambigrams

This MONSTER ambigram will appear the same whether it's upside-down and rightside-upSince people seemed to enjoy the previous ambigram posting so much...
I've found a site that will "translate" any word you type into an ambigram. (In fact, if you type two words of the same length, they'll make them the inverted images of each other.) Some words work better than others. "Monster" looks great. Most of the other words I tried though ("Haunt Style", "Pumpkinrot", "ghost" and "witch") didn't look quite right. Give it a shot. Maybe you'll create something great.

Send a comment and let me know what words work well for you.

"Trick of Treat" ambigram

Illusionist Derren Brown holding his Trick or Treat ambigramYou know what ambigrams are, right? They're those cleverly designed words that read the same way upside Trick or Treat ambigram by artist John Langdondown as they do rightside up. If you read Dan Brown's book "Angels and Demons" then you've already seen some of John Langdon's work. (Yes, the book's protagonist was named after the artist.) He created this very clever "Trick or Treat" ambigram for British illusionist Derren Brown's latest special. I just might carve it onto a pumpkin
