Skulls are so fashionable

Is it just me, or does it seem like skulls are appearing in more and more fashion spreads lately?

Kittens love skulls!

I love this design by artist Brandon Dunlap. Sadly, it looks like the pillows are no longer available. Fortunately, you can still buy it as a painting, t-shirt or tote bag. (And who doesn't need a tote bag emblazon with an image of a kitten playing with a skull?)

I don't know anything about this band, but their album cover is really cool.

Happy Todos Santos Day Bolivia!

Human skull decorated for use in Bolivia's annual Todos Santos festival.
Decorated human skull in Bolivia
I've discovered that no one in Bolivia has ever read my blog. (Probably because they don't celebrate Halloween there.) They do however celebrate El Dia de los Muertos and Todos los Santos, which is sort of Halloween-y. So in the interest of attracting some new Bolivian readers, I present today's post. (Feel free to pass it along to all your Bolivian friends.)

"Originally, the locals used to take their dead out of their graves and share a day with them. The gruesome part is that in the past the dead used to be dug out of their graves; nowadays only the skulls are used. Obviously lacking a nose, the skulls are affectionately called "ñatitas" (short nosed). If a skull is not available, a family's member dresses up as the dead and enacts him during the day, talking with the family about the last year and giving counseling." Update: Skull face tattoo

I wrote about this guy back in 2007. At the time, he only (and I use the word "only" very loosely) had his face tattooed. Well, since then his zombification has continued and that haunted ink has spread over his entire body.

UPDATED: I Painted My House

Here's an update on my June 2009 post. I've learned that the graffiti artist who painted this house is named Kid-Zoom. Be sure to check out his stuff.

Lunchboxes suck!

Lunchboxes suck these days. I took my little monster out to buy a new one for school and couldn't find anything good. So we decided to decorate one ourselves. Here's what we came up with. (As a side note on the construction... the metal stud decal was supposed to iron right on, but the stain-resistant lunchbox material foiled our plans. So there I was, at midnight before his first day of school, sitting at the kitchen table with a pair of tweezers and a bottle of Krazy Glue individually attaching each stud. It took hours, but seeing his reaction the next morning made all that hard work worth it.)

Match head skull

Wow! I mean... Wow! How long must it have taken artist David Mach to make this? It's fantastic!

Bedroom skulls

I'd sleep with these skulls over my bed. They're orange. That makes them cheery. (Via Moggit)

These are a few of my favorite things...

Knitting naked women, symmetry and skulls. Who could ask for anything more?

Glow-in-the-dark skull poster

I don't totally love the look of this print, but the idea of having a glow-in-the-dark skull appear when you turn out the lights is genius.

Skulls on your walls

These vinyl decals are available in a variety of sizes. They would look great on the wall next to yesterday's featured pillory table.

Flocked skull wallpaper

I thought I'd discovered the world's coolest wallpaper back in 2007, 2008, March 2009, and October 2009. Oh, how wrong I was! This gorgeous irridescent flocked skull wallpaper has all the others beat hands down. Can't wait to get some for my bedroom.
