This is ridiculous! Last weekend (on September 26th, to be exact) a friend put a tiny assortment of Halloween decorations out in her garden. Since then, various neighbors and passersby have given her grief about displaying the props "too soon". Apparently, there's an unwritten rule restricting the exhibition of Halloween ornamentation prior to October 1st. Have you heard of such a thing? What do you think? Should people be allowed to display their holiday decor prior to the month of the intended holiday? (Click here to read about all the mayhem these 6 plastic skulls and tombstones caused.)

My local Home Depot bypassed Halloween and is selling Christmas crap already. Those people should write a nasty letter to H.D., not hassle someone who puts up decorations a week "early."
My wife makes it very clear that I can not put anything out before October 1st.
i'm already seeing xmas stuff at stores. :(
it's never too soon for halloween though.
My yard was set up last weekend. The scafolding was up the weekend before....it is never too soon!
Anyway, there are people that leave their christmas lights up all year...so Halloween a bit early should be no problem :D
Cheers!
I thought September 26th was a bit LATE to start decorating!
Bad neighbours!! September is not too early when you consider we start getting hit with Christmas merchandising and other crap as early as August!!
My wife and I have been putting up Halloween decorations for about a week now. It cant come soon enough.
I personally don't put out Halloween decorations before October 1, but then again, I have ceramic jack o' lanterns and a skeleton in my garden year round because I like looking at them. But I say do what you dang well please, whatever makes you happy and whoever doesn't like looking at it can either turn the other way or gouge their own eyes out with a sharp stick so they don't have to see it (happy thoughts!).
Or was that a bit too strong?
They were stocking for Christmas today at KMart. I wanted to hurl.
What a bunch of No-Funs! I have the same set-up in my yard. It has been there for quite a while now.
My yard, my rules! Stick a skeleton where the sun don't shine and get off my lawn scrooge!
;)
I have my kitchen decorated with a Halloween theme year-round, so as far as I'm concerned, it's never too soon for other people to start putting out their decorations.
If you don't want to celebrate Halloween, then don't. But don't try to tell others when decorating for thier holidays is allowed and when it isn't. So there. Hmph.
If it's her yard then she should tell them to jump right up her butt. It's none of their business even if your fried decided to stand on her head in that same spot until Christmas.
