Skull wing tip shoes
They look great, but I can't imagine ever spending $750 on a pair of shoes. Guess I'll just have to stick with my H&M brand skull socks.

Build a lifesize Jabba the Hut puppet
If you've ever wanted to do a Star Wars-themed yard haunt, this site is for you! They feature instructions on how to
build a huge assortment of Star Wars crafts. My favorite is this lifesize Jabba the Hut puppet. I might build one and stick it on the front lawn at Thanksgiving wearing a pilgrim hat.

Spine lamp
What a great idea! I bet they would treat me with a little more respect at the office if I had one of these sitting on my desk.

Not Halloween related
Find more videos like this on Jonathan Escapes
This has nothing to do with Halloween but I thought it looked cool. Coming January 26th to the Discovery Channel, "One Way Out". In this show, "escapologist Jonathan Goodwin attempts to break out of bizarre and dangerous homemade contraptions. Tied to his kitchen table with a live scorpion trapped inside his mouth or locked inside a box on top of a shaking washing machine with his body covered in 200,000 agitated bees, Jonathan is always on the lookout for new and extreme ways to test the art and physics of escape and find that ONE WAY OUT."

Shooting the bad guys
When you're at the gun range, why bother shooting at anonymous silhouettes when you can fire away at some of cinema's biggest baddies? Designer Olly Moss has created these targets featuring Darth Vader, the Terminator, a zombie, Freddy Kreuger, a Space Invader, Megatron, Godzilla, Agent Smith, and Goomba. And there's a good chance that the design will be available on t-shirts sometime soon.

Do it yourself ambigrams
Since people seemed to enjoy the previous ambigram posting so much...
I've found a site that will "translate" any word you type into an ambigram. (In fact, if you type two words of the same length, they'll make them the inverted images of each other.) Some words work better than others. "Monster" looks great. Most of the other words I tried though ("Haunt Style", "Pumpkinrot", "ghost" and "witch") didn't look quite right. Give it a shot. Maybe you'll create something great.
Send a comment and let me know what words work well for you.

"Trick of Treat" ambigram
You know what ambigrams are, right? They're those cleverly designed words that read the same way upside
down as they do rightside up. If you read Dan Brown's book "Angels and Demons" then you've already seen some of John Langdon's work. (Yes, the book's protagonist was named after the artist.) He created this very clever "Trick or Treat" ambigram for British illusionist Derren Brown's latest special. I just might carve it onto a pumpkin

Skeleton motorcycle (pt. 2)
A little more understated than that other skeleton motorcycle I wrote about, this one was created by
the Orange County Chopper guys for the folks behind the Monster Mini-Golf franchise.

Knit killers
How cool are these? This woman knits a huge variety of horror movie villains from yarn. My grandmother should give up knitting scarves and start working on pieces like this.

"Dirty Thunderstorm" of death
Not particularly Halloween-y, but certainly scary... the "dirty thunderstorm". Created by Chile's erupting Chaitén volcano, these "little understood storms may be sparked when rock fragments, ash, and ice particles in the plume collide to produce static charges--just as ice particles collide to create charge in regular thunderstorms." If only I could create one for my annual yard haunt.

The Weird Al pumpkin
Fantastic! I've long felt that Weird Al deserved to be immortalized on the face of a pumpkin. Bravo to Pumpkingutter for carving my boyhood idol into a goard.

Zombie survival gift basket
Here's a great gift idea. For a holiday gift exchange, this person created a zombie survival kit. It includes training films
(zombie movies), a (toy) gun with ammo, a flashlight, a bottle of hand sanitizer "to help keep your skin clean from any contaminants", an energy drink "to help you stay sharp and awake so that you don't drop your guard for wandering zombies" and a small personal hygiene kit, because "good health should not suffer in chaos". Great idea! I hope the recipient really enjoyed it.

Rubik's Cube mosaic
Recently, I've been obsessed with the Rubik's Cube. It took me 28 days of practicing 30 minutes a day, but I can now solve any cube in less than 2 1/2 minutes. The next step for me? To start creating Halloween-themed mosaics out of the cubes like this guy.
