The commercial's sort of lame, but this product seems cool. It can crawl up walls and across the ceiling? The dark little wheels in my brain are turning... Friends and neighbors beware!

Stainless steel spiders
Artist Christopher Locke creates these amazing stainless steel spiders out of scissors confiscated at airport security checkpoints. Click here to see more of his artificial arachnids, and here for a step-by-step look at how these spiders are made.

Sarah Palin will eat you!
Since tomorrow is Election Day, I felt this was appropriate... Here's another Halloween display from my town. This guy puts up the same giant spiderweb each year, but he changes the arachnid's identity (and the assorted tombstones). This year, the spider is Sarah Palin, complete with Palin-esque glasses and hair, a hockey stick jutting through her 'do, and "Joe Sixpack" in her mouth. God bless America!

Spiders on your face!!!
This posting doesn't really have anything to do with spiders on your face. I was just looking for an excuse to use this photo. While we're on the topic of spiders though, I have found a very cool flash application that allows you to control a virtual tarantula. Move it around, feed it flies, make it grow. Check it out here.

Prop of the day
This amazing spider prop was built by Tracy Murphy of "Village Haunt". Using windshield wiper motors as well as pneumatics, it has the ability to chase after trick-or-treaters and spit "venom" at them. Click here for a terrific video detailing the spider's creation. (My favorite part was learning that the spider's legs were covered in eight fuzzy scarves that Tracy's wife knitted.)
More detailed instructions on building this prop can be found here.
