Prop idea of the day

In keeping with today's lighting theme, check out GrimVisions' skeleton lights. I love these things. Very creative. I'm sure they look amazing hanging on the front of his house.

UPDATE:
According to Krough at GrimVisions, the "skin" on the ribcages of these skeletons was made by coating waxpaper with "Sculpt Or Coat" (by Sculptural Arts Coatings)

Click here to see a picture of these lights at night.

Ghost lamp

Now this is more like it! Reasonably priced and oh so cute, the "Saddest Ghost Lamp" by Marcel Dzama would be perfect for any Halloween-loving child's room.

Another expensive light

Though not quite as expensive as the bronze skull lamp I wrote about yesterday, this lighting fixture still carries a hefty price tag - $1530. From the company's website: "The bat & serpent design originates with Celtic mythology and symbolizes the triumph of science and modern medicine over witchcraft. Inspired by an Art Nouveau and Victorian fondness for artistic design, our 'Sunset' is hand cast using the 'lost-wax' technique to capture all the stunning detail of a circa 1892 period original - and we do mean original."

This is how a Halloween photo should look

There are so many horrible photos of Halloween displays out there. The shots are usually blurry, or too dark, or poorly composed. If you try hunting online for high-quality photos of yard haunts, you'll likely have to dig through hundreds of shots before you come up with just a couple that are well-conceived and artistically shot.

Here's one of the good ones...

In fact, this is one of my favorite photos to come out of the 2006 Halloween season. It was taken by a very talented Oklahoma-based photographer http://www.photoreflect.com/pr3/store.aspx?p=41423 and features the yard of a really nice guy who goes by "Slimy" on www.hauntforum.com
